The Bukit Tigapuluh Landscape Conservation Program operates since 2002 with the aim to secure the integrity of the whole landscape. Main objectives of the program are wildlife protection, wildlife monitoring, orangutan re-introduction and public education. The regional office is situated in Jambi/Sumatra.

Program offers vacancies for the following positions:
Field research assistant (1 position)

Successful candidates will work in the remote forests of Bukit Tigapuluh. The field research assistant will co-operate with patrol teams from the Wildlife Protection Unit (WPU).

Job summary The work of the Wildlife Monitoring Assistant (WMA) is field based. Regular surveys will be executed in cooperation with WPU patrol teams. Survey team covering defined survey sectors by operating from flying camps. Work shifts are usually 20 days in the field and five days for report writing, data management and equipment maintenance followed by five days off duty.
Duties:Works with WPU wildlife survey team in the fieldResponsible for logistics and survey equipmentsN Collections of wildlife data using line transect method, camera traps and MIST standard protocolsN Gathering and summarizing wildlife data taken in the field.Install and check camera traps for wildlife surveysMaintain camera traps and survey equipment (cameras, binoculars, GPS etc.) in good conditionGathering information and data for reports depending on needsSupporting human-wildlife-conflict mitigationSupporting translocation of orang-utansAccompany researcher or guestAssist in any kind of research and wildlife monitoring activity on requestEssential skills:University degree majoring in biology, forestry or equivalent experience in a relevant fieldFresh graduates are welcome to apply.Love to work outdoorGood physical and mental fitness to work extended periods in the fieldAble to carry field equipment (backpack) for a two week period (up to 30kg)Able to work under pressure with minimum supervisionN Good knowledge and ability to work with communityN Good understanding of nature conservation issues in Indonesian context.N Excellent report writing skillsN Computer literate.Good interpersonal skills, communication skills and pleasant personality.N N How to apply
