Vacancy: Bird's Head Seascape [BHS] Sustainability Manager - The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy is a conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.

Currently we are searching for a qualified candidate to fill the position of:

BIRD'S HEAD SEASCAPE (BHS) SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER

The BHS Sustainability Manager will provide support to The Nature Conservancy on long-term sustainability of marine conservation program in Raja Ampat and Papuan Birda �s Head Seascape. S/he will assist the BHS Portfolio Manager and Raja Ampat project leaders to develop and guide the implementation of the Conservancya �s transition strategy, to ensure that the site-based program in Raja Ampat is effectively managed and funded by the local government, communities and other relevant partners.

The BHS Sustainability Manager will closely work with BHS Portfolio Manager and the Coda Fellow to develop opportunities to advance the existing work for example around sustainable funding mechanisms e.g.: conservation BLUD, trust fund, etc., within the Raja Ampat district government and/or West Papua Province and improve government funding for marine conservation in Raja Ampat and the wider West Papua/Birda �s Head Seascape.

The BHS Sustainability Manager will coordinate work planning and support project management by tracking progress against the work plans.N S/he works in close collaboration with the BHS Portfolio Managers, Raja Ampat project leaders and other relevant TNC staff to track progress, adjust work plans and adjust budgets in line with the Conservancy and donorsa � requirements, to meet conservation deliverables in the Birda �s Head Seascape.N S/he will lead the production of donor reports and other program publications as needed.

The BHS Sustainability Manager will provide the Strategic Alliance Associate Director who leads donor interactions with regular programmatic updates.

The BHS Sustainability Manager will report to the Indonesia Marine Program Director and will be based in Bali with frequent travel to Raja Ampat and West Papua.

Basic Qualifications:BA/BS degree and 7 years of experiences in conservation program management (preferably marine conservation) or equivalent combination of education and experience on project managementExperience in designing and implementing program sustainability (preferably conservation programs) and donor relations including writing good report in EnglishExperience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partnersRequirements:7-10 years of experiences in developing and executing program sustainability plan and project managementSuccessful experience in partnership development (partners, community, government, etc.) including extensive networking with high-level conservation contacts; political savvyKnowledge of marine conservation is an advantageDemonstrated experience influencing, developing and implementing conservation policy and plansSuccessful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and objectivesManaging time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality resultsCommunicating clearly via written and spoken EnglishProven good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skillsPlease send your CV and application letter to recruitment.indo--at--tnc.org, not later than May 17th, 2013.
