Advisor REDD and Livelihoods
Based in Jakarta, Indonesia
SNV is currently establishing a presence in Indonesia. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water dan sanitation, and climate change.
SNV aims to contribute to the successful development and piloting of models for forestry and REDD and sustainable agriculture in order to support the National REDD program. We are seeking for a dynamic and highly qualified national candidate to fill in the position of Advisor REDD and Livelihoods to be based in Jakarta.
ResponsibilitiesUndertake assessment of current forest practices to provide lessons learnt and guidance on best practices;Support the design of a REDD program in selected provinces;Identify areas suitable to test identified approaches approach in two provinces and undertake scoping, community outreach and development of an activity plan;N Engage and support the Commodities and Climate Change Advisor in designing an agriculture and REDD strategy for identified commodities;Visit potential sites and engage with the different groups along the value chain in order to introduce the preferred models;N Support the start-up of projects after approvalFollow and engage on REDD developments within Indonesia and communicate updates to the REDD and Agriculture teams
Candidate profileExperience working with communities in communal management of forest areasUnderstanding of the legal situation impacting on forests in IndonesiaKnowledge of sustainable forest management and certificationN Experience working with communities on land use planning/mappingExperience with environmental impact assessmentsKnowledge of REDDExperience with GHG calculations for (AG) biomassBSc. Degree in cultural ecology, forestry, biology, environmental scienceN Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia
Duty station: Jakarta with regular travel to provinces
Contract Duration: SNV Indonesia offers a one-year contract with the possibility of extension and a competitive salary package.
