The international medical humanitarian organisation MA decins Sans FrontiA res (MSF) in Hong Kong is looking for suitable candidate for the following position to be based in HongKong:

Communications Officer (2 year Contract)

JOB PURPOSE

In conjunction with communication strategies of Microsoft F-Hong Kong, to promote awareness and provide information of Microsoft F's mandate and worldwide activities with local and regional media and the general public in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries.

The candidate will be stationed in Hong Kong and work with the Communications team of Microsoft F-Hong Kong.

Reports to: Senior Communications Officer, or in his/her absence to the Regional Communications Manager

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MediaEstablishes and maintains media network in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countriesOrganises meetings with Indonesian media in coordination with Senior Communications OfficerPitches media in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries regularly for coverage of Microsoft F's work and worldwide humanitarian crisesPrepares press materials to be disseminated to the Indonesian and other Southeast Asian mediaEventsContribute to planning and arrangement of small scale public events in Jakarta or major cities in other Southeast Asian countriesOnline Mass CommunicationPitches online media hosted in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries, including websites of media organisations and news section of portal sites, for coverage of Microsoft F's work and values in close collaboration with Web EditorEstablishes connection with important bloggers who have interest to Microsoft F's work in coordination with the Web EditorInternal CommunicationsProvides communication support to other departments, board members and ASEAN Representative of Microsoft F when necessary and if availableCirculates relevant Microsoft F information on a regular basis among all staff in the Microsoft F-Hong Kong officeConducts communication briefings and debriefings with field workersProperly documents the experiences learnt by Microsoft F-Hong Kong in public communications in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries, and help to develop a sustainable system of working with the Indonesian media that can be continued after the contract endsRequirementsUniversity graduate with a minimum of 3 years' journalistic or PR experienceStrong interest and knowledge in world affairsGood knowledge of local and regional media in Indonesia, and preferably other Southeast Asian countriesExperience in organising events is an assetCommitment to the aims and values of MA decins Sans FrontiA resAbility to work independently but also a good team playerFluency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Indonesia is a must, proficiency in one more language commonly used in the Southeast Asian countries is preferableGood presentation skillsAbility to work under pressure and to respect deadlinesFlexible working hoursPlease apply with a letter of motivation (in English) and full resume with expect salary and date of earliest availability on or before 22nd April 2013 by e-mail to comms_recruit--at--msf.org.hk.
