The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat is the nerve centre of ASEAN, a regional inter-governmental organisation founded in 1967, to promote peace and stability, sustained economic growth, shared prosperity and social progress. It comprises the ten countries of Southeast Asia.
The entry into force of the ASEAN Charter on 15 December 2008 has provided new impetus to ASEANa �s integration efforts by establishing a legal and institutional framework required to achieve the ASEAN Community by 2015. This includes the newly approved organisational structure of the ASEAN Secretariat that is aligned to the requirements of the Charter and the three Blueprints of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC). The ASEAN Secretariat is therefore well positioned to provide the necessary functions required to effectively support the community building process under the Charter and the Blueprints.
Currently ASEC is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Technical Officer under the Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance Division; Cross-Sectoral Cooperation Directorate; ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Department.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide technical and administrative support to the implementation of the Disaster Management section of the ASCC Blueprint, the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) and the AADMER Work Programme;Provide technical and administrative support to the meetings of ASEAN bodies under the AADMER and other relevant bodies across all the three pillars of ASEAN that require cross-sectoral coordination with issues related to the AADMER;Provide technical and administrative support for promoting cross-sectoral collaboration and multi-stakeholder partnership in the implementation of AADMER and the Work Programme;Provide technical and administrative support for the development and implementation of Monitoring dan Evaluation (MdanE) for the AADMER and the Work Programme;Provide knowledge management support for the implementation of AADMER and the Work Programme through networking among Member States and with partners and other stakeholders, and enhancing sharing of information, in coordination with the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre);Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Head of DMHA Division and/or other designated officers.Requirements (among others): Preferably Mastera �s Degree in relevant field (i.e. disaster management, developmental studies, public administration or other related discipline);Minimum three 623years of work experience with proven track record and exposure to disaster management in a government, international organisation and/or private sector;N Experience in dealing with a wide spectrum of areas in disaster management at development cooperation (policies, trends, issues and development), preferably at regional and international environment;Exposure to relevant activities dealing with various international organisations, related institutions and/or private sector;N Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planningFor further information on the detailed Terms of Reference of the position, please visitN HERE
