Mission of Strategic Asia:
Founded in 2007, Strategic Asia provides advisory and facilitation services to governments, private businesses, international organizations, civil society organizations and media groups. Strategic Asia is headquartered in the United Kingdom, with offices in India, Indonesia, and a planned representative office in China. Strategic Asia's mission is to promote cooperation between Asian countries, especially among the largest emerging markets of Asia where many of the most pressing policy and business challenges lie. Strategic Asia works in a variety of fields including food and energy security, regional development and governance reform, investment promotion, foreign policy and trade negotiation, climate change and public private partnerships.

Reports to:
The Research Officer will report to the Head of Research Department. S/he will also need to report to Directors, Deputy Directors and the Managing Director.

Job Summary:
The Research Officer is expected to research on and produce deliverables in accordance to project requirements, manage particular projects, provide information on new policy and explain their complex findings in a way that is easy to understand.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities: Assisting the Head of Research to conduct primary and secondary research across a variety of sectors including education, decentralization, food security, energy security as well as international relations for our in house projects as well as client projectsContributing to Strategic Asia in-house research through the publishing of articles, working papers, policy briefs and high quality reportsResearching and collating data on various Strategic Asia programmesN Meeting with stakeholders from the private sector and public sector to assess critical policy challengesAttending seminars and conferences for both building in house expertise as well as for client projectsLooking for new areas of business for Strategic AsiaIn consultation with the Head of Research, facilitate the organization and eventually lead coordinating meetings, conferences and FGDsBasic areas of knowledge and skills: Strong analytical and research skillsSelf-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a teamEnsure positive working environment and good working chemistry as well as team dynamicsAbility to manage deadlines and a busy workloadEfficiently organise own timeAbility to assimilate information quicklyAn ability to maintain a broad focus on, and interest in current affairs that relate to the company's projectsAn ability to build and maintain good networks internally and externally and keep up to date with academic literature around their key areas of workN Understands the political process, strong social research and numeric skills; an interest in policy process and a determination to explore issues thoroughlyEnsure professionalism and confidentialityFluent in both Bahasa and EnglishQualifications:
The Research Officer should have at least a Masters Degree in any relevant social discipline such as Economics, Politics, International Relations, Law and Communications; and at least 2 years work experience in research.
Longer work experience could lead to the specification of the Research Officer title, e.g. Economic Research Officer, Political Research Officer, etc.

Salary and Conditions:
Commensurate with experience.
