Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting expressions of interest for the CONCESSIONAIRE COORDINATOR (Jakarta based) on our USAID Indonesia Forestry and Climate Support Project (USAID IFACS).
USAID IFACS seeks to reduce the threats of deforestation and climate change, and help the Government of Indonesia (GOI) conserve the countrya �s tropical forests, wildlife, and ecosystem processes (including carbon sequestration).
JOB SUMMARY:He/she will work with other members of the Projecta �s Best Management Practice (BMP) Unit to inform selected natural resource concessionaires, SMEs, community enterprises and members of multi-stakeholder forums on BMP approaches to conserve high conservation values in their areas of concern. And to assist them incorporate these strategies into their conservation management planning and implementation processes.
The Project has developed MoUs with a portfolio of 15 large business enterprises, and community conservation livelihood agreements (CCLAs) with a similar number of SMEs and community enterprises (as part of the Projecta �s subcontract and grant mechanisms). It has modified existing technical guidelines regarding BMPs. In particular, it has developed a � in collaboration with the Indonesian High Conservation Value Network a � working guidelines for the development of conservation management and monitoring plans (CMMPs) with natural resource concessionaires. It has also developed a protocol for the development of CCLAs to ensure that Project partner SME and community enterprises make commitments to conserve HCVs in their areas of interest. The BMP Unit has also conducted BMP training programs in almost all Project target landscapes. Through collaboration with the Tropical Forest Foundation (TFF), reduced impact logging training is being conducted in the partner concessions. During and after the development of CMMPs in each natural resource concession, specific topical BMP trainings may be conducted as required.
One key aspect of the concession coordinator role that now requires attention relates to the establishment of improved community and private sector relationships. This is especially the case for communities adjacent to Project partner concessions.N Good relationships with concession workers and concessionaires are important to achieve sustainable forest practices and to conserve HCVs in the forest management units. Social impact assessments (SIAs) are a tool to identify the social condition of such communities and to develop strategies to mitigate any negative social impacts and establish better social relationship with concessionaires. Aspects of such mitigation may relate to increased and more focused corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding to such communities and greater opportunities for community members to work with and collaborate with concession staff.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Continue to coordinate all Project BMP activities with partner natural resource concessions, SMEs and community enterprises. This will include assisting with logistics, training programs, workshops, general communication of progress, and provide assistance during action planning and implementation.Work with the Community Development Specialist to promote progress of partners engaged in BMPs.Conduct SIAs with selected concessions as background to incorporate into development of their CMMPs and as a basis to increase community private sector arrangements.Communicate all developments throughout the project with all key partners.With members of the BMP Unit collaborate with multi-stakeholder forums to improve community and private sector relationships.QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS): N N N N N N N N N N N N N University degree in related discipline.N Five yearsa � experience working with natural resource concessionaires and/or SMEs preferred.N Demonstrated experience linking the private sector and communities.N Good knowledge of socio-economic and cultural issues of local forest communities adjacent to natural resource concessions.N Some experience with rapid social impact assessments preferred.N Familiarity with natural resource concessions and a working knowledge of forests,N biodiversity, environmental services and climate change issues.N Native fluency in spoken and written Indonesian.N Professional competency in spoken and written English.N Ability to engage in activities occurring in multiple field sites with multiple stakeholders across Indonesia.N Willingness to travel extensively in Indonesia.Please submit your recent CV with subject CONCESSIONAIRE COORDINATOR N to: recruitment--at--ifacs.or.id
