Background
Two of the main issues of our time are food security and climate change. We have to adapt to climate change in order to provide sufficient food. At the same time agriculture plays a role in reducing emissions of greenhouse gasses that cause climate change.

Central Kalimantan is the target of many of Indonesia's efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses, particularly REDD . Central Kalimantan is very relevant for this due to its large forest cover, but also the threats to existing forest posed by forest conversion and forest and peat land fires. FAO aims to support the effort to reduce emissions, while at the same time focusing on increasing agricultural production in a sustainable way. This will be done through the introduction and trials of new agricultural techniques that focus on reduced fire use. The project will be implemented with communities in Kacamaten Jabiren Raya in Pulang Pisau district, Central Kalimantan.

Duties and Responsibilities
Objectives of assignment
Under general supervision of the FAO representative and under the guidance and supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative, the above mentioned National Consultant will take responsibility for coordinating the implementation of the project. He/she shall be working hand-in-hand with the appointed officials from BPTP and with staff from FAO Indonesia. He/she will be directly accountable to FAO for the timely delivery of results.

Scope of WorkManage the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project and its components, and will be supported by an assistant;Develop and coordinate the activities under this project to ensure its results are in accordance with the Project Document;N Maintain relations with local communities and other stakeholders;Support the transfer of knowledge between different stakeholders;Coordinate the work of consultants under this project and ensure the scope of the work is in line with the project document;Support logistics of the project implementation;Coordinate with other initiatives implemented in the area to ensure synergies and complementarity and avoid overlap and conflict;Support the development of information materials for and about the project;Report progress and lessons learned to FAO office;Draft project terminal report;Represent FAO on matters related to this project;Perform other duties as requested.Required Skills and Experience:
EducationHigher University degree in agriculture, Environment, or other related discipline from a well recognized, reputable university or institute of technology; Experience At least 10 years of progressive work experience with project implementation;Experience with a diversity of agricultural techniques, including: conservation agriculture, agro-forestry, integrated farming systems;Experience with participatory approaches;Experience in working with local communities in Central Kalimantan.Language RequirementsProficient in English language, spoken and written. Ability to write reports, make presentations, etc;Indonesian nationality.CompetenciesStrong interpersonal skills; commitment to team work and to working across disciplines.Outstanding communication and networking skillsN Ability to translate theory into action;Good analytical and writing skills;N Ability to work proactively in a high-pressure, fast-paced team environment;Ability in the usage of computers and office software packages;N Experience working with international environment is an asset.Duration
The contract will be 10 months until 31 July 2013
