The United States Peace Corps program in Indonesia seeks qualified and motivated candidates for the following positions in SURABAYA.

Peace Corps Indonesia is a U.S. government agency partnering with the Government of Indonesia in the areas of technical cooperation and cultural understanding between the two countries.
Peace Corps brings volunteers from the United States to work at Indonesian schools to assist in the development of English language instruction.

Peace Corps office is located in Surabaya and unfortunately Peace Corps cannot provide any assistance in moving to the area or temporary housing or with cost for coming to Surabaya for an interview.
Due to U.S. government regulations, the selected candidate will have to have a security background check before being able to start with Peace Corps.

Statement of work (SOW)

General Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Programming dan Training, Regional Managers are responsible for the management and support of those Volunteers living and working within an assigned geographic area of Indonesia.N The Regional Managers work to ensure that the communities where Volunteers live and work are appropriately prepared to receive a Volunteer, and help Volunteers to become self-sufficient, secure, and productive.N Regional Managers monitor Volunteer performance in regards to their work, cultural adaptation, and language acquisition, and remain in regular contact with relevant Indonesian authorities in the assigned region.N They work closely with other members of the Peace Corps staff to address Volunteer and program management priorities, including planning, evaluation and reporting.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Site Identification and Preparation
Collaborates proactively with provincial and local Indonesian partners to identify appropriate site placements for incoming Volunteers.Working with colleagues from all units, revises site selection criteria, site development procedures, and relevant checklists and forms to ensure consistent data collection.Schedules visits to prospective sites in timely and efficient manner, and meets with workplace supervisors and colleagues, potential host families, local officials, and police.Represents Peace Corps in formal and informal discussions at prospective sites, clearly and accurately describing the agency mission, as well as roles and responsibilities of the Volunteer, work colleagues, and host family so that expectations are realistic.Using establish criteria, prioritizes visited sites according to readiness to receive a Volunteer and documents rationale for those selected and those eliminated.Collects and documents detailed host family, workplace, and site information to be shared at site matching meetings and with assigned trainees.Participates in site matching meetings in order to link needs and interests of Volunteers with those of sites.Communicates regularly with partners and sites regarding the status of site development.Updates and processes site information into VIDA database.Volunteer SupportActs as primary point of contact at the Peace Corps office for assigned Volunteers, providing coaching on cross-cultural, workplace, and host family issues, and setting realistic expectations regarding service.Develops collegial relationships with Volunteers and provides timely, proactive, and responsive communication through phone calls, text messages, surat elektronik [surel/email]s, visits at site, at the Peace Corps office, or during training events.Helps Volunteers define areas of strength and weaknesses in their professional skills and service, and develop realistic plans to achieve project goals.Refers Volunteers to multiple sources of information and resources within Peace Corps and outside of Peace Corps, as appropriate.Working with colleagues from all units, revises site visit procedures and timelines, and relevant checklists and forms to ensure consistent quality of support and data collection.Meets regularly with members of the Volunteer Support Team, both formally and informally, to describe pending issues with particular Volunteers or themes which may need to be addressed through changes in training, procedure, or policy.N Visits each Volunteer within the first four months of service to review work plan (schedule), observe living conditions, meet with work colleagues, host family members, and community members in order to assist with any issues raised.Keep accurate notes regarding Volunteer communication using the VIDA database.Monitors and evaluates Volunteer work throughout service, providing timely and constructive feedback regarding work and cross-cultural development.Advises Volunteers on Peace Corps policies and monitors adherence to policies, documenting non-compliance as needed.Programming dan Training SupportCooperates daily with all Programming and Training staff, as well as colleagues in other work units, to create and implement a coherent and realistic plan for the Peace Corps Indonesia program.Contributes to the completion of reports to Indonesian partners and Peace Corps headquarters.Stays up-to-date with Peace Corps priorities, initiatives, and recommended practices and uses this knowledge to assist and inspire Volunteers.Participates in planning meetings for training events, and contributes training ideas based on assets and challenges in Volunteer assignments.Develops and facilitates assigned sessions at training events.Develops network of support from Peace Corps posts and headquarters in order to introduce promising practices, tools, or resources to posta �s management or identify resources for Volunteers. Performs other duties as assigned according to Peace Corps Indonesiaa �s needs.Safety and security support
Provides safety and security support to Peace Corps Volunteers and staff and assists in MS 270 regulations compliance.Act as duty officer to support PCVs during emergencies on a 24/7 basis on a rotating schedule with other staff.N Addresses safety and security proactively by ensuring appropriate assignments for Volunteers and adhering to Peace Corps site development policies and procedures.N Identifies and communicates Volunteer safety and security concerns or issues to the Safety and Security Coordinator (SSC) and the CD.N Ensures prospective sites meet established programmatic and safety/security criteria (e.g., safe housing, a clearly defined assignment with an organization that shows real interest in working with a Volunteer, etc.). Reviews and references site history files when evaluating potential sites.N Incorporates appropriate site-specific safety and security-related information into site history files.N Ensures designated host country counterparts participate in counterpart orientation/training and are prepared to work with and support Volunteers, including their role in Volunteer safety and security.N Maintains communication with each Volunteer and solicits periodic feedback, including information about Volunteer safety and security.N Maintains a calendar of Volunteer site visits, and completes appropriate number of site visits to assess Volunteer progress, safety and security, and to provide technical guidance and moral support.N Monitors Volunteer compliance with Peace Corps policies, especially related to safety and security, and initiates corrective action as necessary. Participates in the design and implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).N Acts as duty officer, as needed.N Knowledgeable and supportive of Peace Corps safety and security policies and procedures, including the timely reporting of suspicious incidents, persons or articles.N Level and effort
Performs duties at assigned Post during a 40 hour work week.N N N Will be required to travel on an overnight basis as needed to support Volunteers and coordinate with RI officials.N May be required to work outside of or in addition to normally scheduled hours to support Volunteers and fulfill other post requirements.N Participates in in-country or out-of-country trainings provided to PC staff.Occasional Money holder
The PSC may be required to courier cash and/or purchase orders to various vendors who furnish supplies and/or services to PST/IST training site, or other locations as directed by the Contracting Officer. The PSC may also be required to courier cash to PC trainees or volunteers. The PSC will not be functioning as a procurement or disbursing official but will only be acting as an intermediary between the Contracting or Disbursing Officer and the recipient. In the case ofN dealing with vendors, the PSC will not exercise any procurement discretion concerning the supplies or services to be purchased or the cost limits of these purchases; these will be determined by the Contracting Officer.Work Experience Requirements and Qualifications
Experience:N At least three years of progressively responsible work experience in education, health, or community development sector.N Experience with international volunteer organizations, other development or cross-cultural organizations preferred.

Languages: Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English required.N Excellent, translator-quality English is preferred, as is ability to speak Bahasa Jawa, Bahasa Madura, or other provincial language.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience living and/or working in rural communities in Indonesia.Knowledge of and respect for local Indonesian cultures, languages, and traditions.Knowledge of structure and operations of local Indonesian government, as well as familiarity with community organizational structures.Familiar with challenges and benefits of working in a cross-cultural environment.Training, facilitation, and/or public speaking skills required.Experience with coaching, counseling, or teaching high school students or adults.Knowledge of Peace Corpsa � philosophy, goals, and policiesOrganizational skills and abilities, including the ability to maintain accurate and clear filesAbility to use computers, including the Microsoft suite of software, and the ability to learn new programsAbility to act with diplomacy and tact with staff, Volunteers, Trainees, community members and members of government Education Requirements
